Cindy Poster, PhD is a licensed clinical health psychologist, practicing in both Connecticut and New York. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology from Tufts University, and her Master of Arts and Doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University.

For over 25 years, Dr. Poster has worked extensively with adults, adolescents, couples, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her clinical experience encompasses individual and group therapy, as well as comprehensive diagnostic and neuropsychological assessments. She has treated a wide range of conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, panic disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), chronic pain, addiction, sleep disturbances, life transitions, eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, and complex medical and terminal illnesses.

Dr. Poster takes a holistic and individualized approach to treatment.  She primarily draws from evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), while integrating other therapeutic approaches as needed to tailor care to each client’s unique needs.   When appropriate, she collaborates with medical and integrative health professionals to explore potential physiological factors that may be contributing to psychological symptoms.

Central to her work is the belief that emotional well-being is deeply connected to thoughts, behaviors, and physical health. Often our emotions hijack us leading to patterns of reactivity, avoidance, or distress.  Dr. Poster helps clients understand and regulate emotional responses, recognize and reframe negative thought patterns, and build practical strategies to foster resilience and improve quality of life.

In her private practice, Dr. Poster primarily works with individual adults and older adolescents, offering personalized one-on-one therapy tailored to each client’s specific goals and challenges. In addition to individual therapy, she also runs weekly groups designed to help participants navigate the everyday stresses of life. Her clinical specialties include anxiety, depression, panic disorder, phobias, OCD, ADHD, chronic pain, anger management, relationship challenges, and major life transitions.
